The Four Pillars Program focuses on the development and implementation of a long-term plan for the Sc’ianew Nation Community and Membership. The Four Pillars Coordinator will set out to work with the Four Pillars Committee to develop a ten-year plan. This ten-year plan will outline how the Nation intends to address and promote the Four Pillars. These Four Pillars include: 1) Revival and protection of Language, 2) Revival and protection of Culture, 3) Protection and promotion of Heritage, and 4) Wellness for communities and their members. This will be achieved through collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Students, Departments, and Committees. The Coordinator, will work closely with and be supported by the Four Pillars Committee.

Key Responsibilities

Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Sc’ianew Nation policies, practices, and procedures as supervised by the Chief Executive Officer and O&A Manger. Must maintain confidentiality as required pertaining to students, members, employees, and general matters of Sc’ianew Nation.

Action Plan Development

  • Establish and Collaborate with the Four Pillars Committee to develop a ten-year action plan outlining how the Nation intends to address the Four Pillars.
  • Coordinate and facilitate community engagement events, including logistics, promotion, recruitment, and outreach.
  • Maintain and update membership contact lists.
  • Map the current Language, Culture, Heritage, and Wellness programming that exists in community.
  • Work with the Elder’s and integrate ceremony and protocol into engagements.
  • Initiate engagement sessions, supporting respectful and inclusive dialogue with all community members.
  • Capture input from leadership, staff, community members, youth, knowledge keepers and language speakers.
  • Support related meetings and contribute to action plan drafting.

Post-Action Plan Implementation:

  • Lead program planning and budgeting for 4 Pillars initiatives.
  • Support hiring or program implementation processes and oversee activities.
  • Work with Sc’ianew Nation department leads to enhance and coordinate cultural programs, activities, initiatives, and resources.
  • Prepare timely reports for funders and community.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in relevant fields (e.g., language, culture, wellness)
  • Strong facilitation, public speaking, and written communication skills
  • Experience hosting meetings and engaging with diverse community members
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, social media, and basic graphic design tools
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience managing budgets and writing reports
  • Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Sc’ianew Nation’s culture and history
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends

Hours of Work:

Contract Term 6 Months – with possibility of extension

Monday to Thursday

8:30AM to 4:30PM

Maximum of 64hrs Bi-weekly

Some weekends and evenings

Wage

$23.91 – $29.23 per hour
This position is based on the funding agreement with the potential for extension based on the program’s success and direction, including the strategies for implementing a Four Pillars Plan in the Community.
