There are three fully-funded trades programs starting at Camosun soon.
The Indigenous Trades Sampler Program (ITSP)
- Participants explore various trades while gaining skills and certifications to either prepare for work as an entry-level skilled labourer or to continue an education in the trades.
- May 19 to Aug 07, 2026
- Participants must be:
- Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit)
- live within the Coast Salish Employment and Training Society/South Vancouver Island area
- interested in pursuing a career in the trades
Multi-Industry Trades Exploration and Employment (MITEE) program
- Participants explore various trades while gaining skills and certifications to start their career in their chosen trade, culminating in a 4 week work experience with a local partner organization.
- Jun 01 to Oct 02, 2026 (Second intake Jun 29 to Oct 30, 2026)
- Participants must be:
- Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit) of any age or youth aged 17-29
- currently unemployed and can work in BC
- obtain a referral from ISET holder or WorkBC
- and one of the following applies:
- currently on EI
- their EI ended in the last 5 years
- have paid EI premiums in 5 of the last 10 years
- are currently on BC Employment & Assistance
Ship Repair Entry Level Training (SRELT) program
- Participants gain certifications and develop skills needed to start work as a general labourer in the shipyard/marine industry
- Jul 06 to Aug 21, 2026 (Fall intake is Sep 21 to Nov 13, 2026); Mon to Fri, daytime
- Participants must be:
- Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit)
- be able to commit to the full program
- and have an interest in working in/on/around boats.
