Applications for the 2026 Chief Joe Mathias British Columbia Aboriginal Scholarship Fund are open. This scholarship is intended to support eligible BC First Nations students pursuing post-secondary or graduate studies.

There are 3 scholarship programs offered. We would like to particularly highlight the BC First Nations Teacher Scholarship, which is for BC First Nation students completing a teacher education program at a BC public post-secondary institution. The teacher scholarship is funded through the Stronger BC: Future Ready Action Plan and advances FNESC’s work on Action 4.2 of the Declaration Act Action Plan that commits the Province to “develop and implement an effective recruitment and retention strategy to increase the number of Indigenous teachers in the K-12 public education system”.
