An historic partnership between three communities is promising to create jobs, protect valuable greenspace and secure the economic future of the SC’IȺNEW First Nation.
The boundary adjustment will see the District of Metchosin protect 370 acres of valuable greenspace while the City of Langford grows by 380 acres to allow for a business park development. The SC’IȺNEW First Nation will transfer its treaty settlement lands in Metchosin for a one-third share of the new business park. All three jurisdictions – Langford, Metchosin and the SC’IȺNEW First Nation will enter into a tax sharing agreement over the business park development. See below for more information.
